It has been exciting to be back in Nicaragua and watch God work! We feel an urgency in what God has called us to do. We know we are not only here to help people grow in the knowledge of His Word but also to to be prepared to go and share Him with others.
Pastors
We have always sought to partner with pastors in existing churches. Our desire is to equip them with resources to help them personally grow and also provide Bibles, Bible studies, and training to raise up up spiritual leaders in their churches. What a privilege it was to have several of the pastors and leaders in our home this past month showing them our library and talking about ways to help each one.
HIStory Storycloth
One resource we continue to use is the story cloth from HIStory. These were provided to us several years ago by Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville,TN. We have two different cloths. One uses pictures to tell stories from Genesis through the Gospels and the second uses pictures to tell the Book of Acts. If you are interested to learn more about this resource, their website is https://historycloth.com.
Community of Santa Emilia
Pastor Cesar and his wife, Blanca, have such a deep love for their community. Times are extremely hard for them so we always appreciate opportunities to support and encourage them. Through several additional donations we've been able to purchase school uniforms and supplies for some of the children in their church, the additional children's discipleship material they needed, food for the 40 church families, and meet some personal needs of Pastor Cesar and his wife. It is a privilege for us to be the hands and feet as so many obediently provide in areas directed by God.
A Sweet Day With Friends From N.C.
We were blessed to spend a day this month with our new friends from Missionary Ventures, Billy and Donna Hires. They traveled with us to Santa Emilia where they met with Pastor Cesar and Blanca. They were a great encouragement to them. After our meeting Pastor Cesar led us on a prayer walk through his community. In the afternoon Billy taught on Discipleship in the Solingalpa Bible Study. They are eager to continue this study over the next several weeks with Eric. Thank you Billy and Donna for teaching, encouraging, and loving on the people we live life with in Nicaragua!
Community of San Dionisio
While we were in the States we were able to connect with The Gospel Project, a Bible curriculum by Lifeway. We were excited to learn they have a Spanish children's curriculum specifically developed for Central American churches. What a blessing it was to be able to purchase this for Iglesia Luz y Esperanza with money specifically designated for this. It was exciting to hear Pastor Humberto and the church leaders discuss opportunities this provides in their children's ministry.
UNAN University
It was so nice to be able to return to the classrooms in UNAN University. We have missed our interactions with the students! Professor Julio has been inviting us into his classroom for the last seven years. On July 10, the English Teaching Department hosted a conference and invited students from several areas. Eric was privileged to be the guest speaker. We love how God continues to open doors!
The Exchanged Life Training from Grace Fellowship International
God never ceases to amaze us at how He orchestrates ministry for us here in Nicaragua. In June we visited our daughter Kaylee's church, Grace Church in Taylors, SC., and attended the Spanish service. After the service we met a man that confirmed he was planning to visit Nicaragua for a mission trip in July for some pastor/leader conferences in our area and he would be staying in our city. We visited him while he was here and also met some of his translators and Pastor Melvin Mendez. Melvin is starting a new church in Matagalpa, Casa de Bendicion, and was interested in our mission ministry. Wendy and I invited he and his wife to our home and God has begun a sweet relationship. We have been able to plan and provide resources, and were recently able to do an Exchange Life training to leaders of his church.
Praises and Prayer Requests
Residency Renewal Status - Our last residency expired on Sept.13,2020 and due to several factors we were unable to renew our residency at that time. Due to answered prayers and our new association with Missionary Ventures International, we are now able to submit our paperwork to immigration. We count this news as a big praise! Thank you for your continued prayers through this process.
Support Transition - In our last newsletter we confirmed our new association with Missionary Ventures International and the need for supporters to cancel their current payments through PayPal and restart their payments through MVI on their webpage. We are so thankful to all of our supporters for this transition and for your continued support to this ministry.
Discipleship Relationships - As a result of specific prayer that God has laid on our hearts, since our return, God has brought several new pastors/churches and several individuals to us in new relationships to love, encourage, provide resources, serve, teach, train, and disciple. Please continue to pray for God to work in the lives of all the pastors and individuals for them to grow and become mature in their faith, to share their faith, and change many lives for eternity.
