June 2021 Ministry Update

Exciting News

In our previous newsletters we shared the concerns for obtaining our residency renewal enabling us to continue serving as missionaries in Nicaragua. God has answered our prayers through Missionary Ventures International. MVI is a mission organization that partners with missionaries in the field with the shared goal to equip and empower local believers to fulfill their God-given mission. MVI is recognized by the Nicaraguan government as a nonprofit in good standing. Therefore, they can be our required host organization allowing us to maintain our residency in Nicaragua. We are excited about this next chapter in ministry under the umbrella of MVI. The mission will not really look any different as we will continue functioning the same in all ministry areas. We believe MVI will help the ministry grow and expand more rapidly under this new structure.

Return to Nicaragua

On June 15th we were so excited and appreciative to be returning to Nicaragua with six suitcases filled with over 200 lbs. of ministry resources purchased from donations. Our bags were flagged to be checked as we passed through immigration in Managua, which is usually never a good sign. The immigration official checking our bags was very interested in our resources and book titles. She asked what we did and which churches we helped, said our materials were really nice, and quickly let us pass. We were praising God for His favor!

Sunday Bible Study

Our weekly Sunday Bible study/discipleship kicked off with a pizza party at our favorite Italian restaurant. Each Sunday we will now be meeting on the top floor, open terrace of Hotel Palmeras de Elim. It is so nice to be together again! We love this group of people! What a privilege it is to meet every Sunday to talk about God’s truth.

Solingalpa Bible Study

Since returning to Nicaragua we’ve been able to visit Solingalpa and rejoin their Monday afternoon Bible study. While we were in the States they were so faithful to continue a study which is taking them through the entire Old Testament. We love how they have grown in their understanding of the Bible, which has resulted in their confidence to take turns teaching the Bible study.

Gospel Project for Kids by Lifeway

A great need in the churches where we minister are children's Sunday School resources. While we were in the States we received a generous donation for the purchase of the Gospel Project for Kids in Spanish by Lifeway for several of the churches with which we partner. Iglesia Luz y Esperanza in San Dionisio is one of the churches receiving this curriculum. Quevit, our close friend and ministry partner in this community, attends this church. He has been involved in the planning and organization of the children’s Sunday School materials in the past and was very excited to see and discuss this curriculum. He expressed his excitement and joy about being able to take this resource back to his church for the children.

Quevit's Beginner Level English Class

Quevit invited us to visit the English class he is teaching. We were impressed that he had each student introduce themself and prepare questions for us. They also blessed us by singing "Open The Eyes Of My Heart Lord". Quevit also asked us to introduce ourselves, share why we were living in Nicaragua AND share The Gospel--which we did! We loved how every one of them participated with confidence. He is a great teacher with great students!

Santa Emilia - Pastor Cesar

Pastor Cesar met us in Matagalpa this week to eat, enjoy fellowship, plan ministry and provide him with new resources. We filled one of our suitcases with 10 Bibles, 40 New Testament Bibles, John MacArthur's 4-book Pastor's Library, 12 Warren Wiersbe "BE" commentaries, children's Sunday School curriculum and other study materials. Eduardo was able to help Pastor Cesar set up his new laptop that was given to him by a special designated donation. He was very humbled and appreciative of all that he received and gave God the glory for answered prayer! We loved our time spent together!
